Although on this site I mostly refer to the 'printer profile', the appropriate device dependent profile to make a print depends, not only on the printer used (basically, how it squirts ink), but also on:

• the set of inks being used, and
• the characteristics of the paper being printed on

Therefore, depending on the context the colour profile for printing is sometimes also referred to as:

• the paper profile
• the print profile
